For a lot of veterans, staying at home is about more than comfort. It ties in with independence, routine, and a sense of control that has been earned over a long life. DVA Support at Home helps eligible veterans get practical, funded assistance without leaving the place they know best.
At Humility Support Services we deliver that day-to-day support across Brisbane, Logan and Ipswich from our base in Pallara. The care is shaped around you: your history, your preferences, and the way you like your day to run. Whether you hold a Gold or White Card, or you’re weighing up aged care support through My Aged Care, we can help you understand your options and arrange reliable veteran home care services at home. We work with veterans, war widows and widowers, and the families behind them, so nobody has to sort it out alone.
Independence looks different for everyone. For one veteran it’s showering and dressing without waiting on family. For another it’s keeping the garden tidy, getting to a medical appointment on time, or having someone reliable turn up on the days that matter.
Support at home is meant to protect that independence, not take it over. Good home support fills the gaps that make daily life harder while leaving you in charge of the decisions. That might be a hand with personal care in the morning, help keeping the house clean and safe, or someone who checks in on how you’re travelling week to week.
The difference usually comes down to consistency. Veterans tell us they don’t want a rotating cast of strangers. They want a small, familiar team who knows the routine, remembers how they take their tea, and notices when something is off. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to.
Here is what support at home can cover. The exact mix depends on your assessed needs and the funding you’re eligible for, and we walk through that with you before anything starts.
Help with the personal routines that keep the day moving: showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, and medication prompts, done with privacy and respect. The aim is to make mornings and evenings easier while you stay as involved as you want to be. Dignity isn’t a nice extra here. It’s the whole point.
A clean, safe home is easier to live well in. Our team can help with cleaning, laundry, dishes, changing linen, and general tidying, so the house stays manageable. We also keep an eye out for the small hazards that turn into falls, like loose rugs and cluttered walkways.
Getting out matters. We can support you to attend medical appointments, do the shopping, and stay connected to the groups and activities that keep life interesting. Isolation creeps up quietly, and a regular outing often does more good than people expect.
Support that keeps an eye on the bigger picture. That means encouraging healthy routines, watching for changes in how you’re coping, and working alongside your GP, nurses, and other health professionals when needed. For clinical care at home, veterans on DVA funding can also access community nursing, which we deliver as a separate service.
Family carers do enormous work, and they need a break to keep doing it well. Respite gives carers time to rest, run errands, or simply step back for a while, with a trusted worker taking over the caring role at home. It’s support for the whole household, not only the veteran.
No two veterans need the same thing, so we don’t pretend otherwise. Support starts with a proper conversation about your situation, your goals, and what a good week actually looks like for you. From there we build a plan around you.
Plans stay flexible. Needs change, sometimes slowly, sometimes after a hospital stay or a health setback, and your support should move with them. We review regularly and adjust, rather than locking you into something that stopped fitting months ago.
Everything runs on a veteran-centred approach. Your preferences lead, and we deliver the care respectfully and reliably.
Eligibility for DVA-funded support depends on your Veteran Card and your assessed needs. Here is a general guide. DVA and the relevant assessment agency make the final call on what you qualify for, and we’re happy to help you reach the right people.
Veterans who need a hand with daily living, or who want support to keep living independently at home, may be eligible for programs such as Veterans’ Home Care. VHC is a low-level care program for Gold and White Card holders, arranged through a VHC assessment agency.
War widows and widowers can also access support based on their individual needs. If you hold a card or receive a War Widow or Widower’s Pension, it’s worth checking what you’re entitled to, because many people miss support they qualify for.
If health conditions or reduced mobility are making daily activities harder, support at home can help you stay safe and well. For higher or more complex needs, DVA and My Aged Care can point you towards the right program, including the Support at Home aged care program that replaced Home Care Packages in November 2025.
Families often carry the load quietly. We provide extra care assistance to take pressure off carers, whether that’s a regular scheduled break or a hand during a hard stretch.
We’re a registered provider based in Pallara, and we cover Brisbane, Logan and Ipswich from there. Being local is part of the service. When a worker is off sick, we can usually get a replacement to you the same day rather than leaving you stranded.
We support NDIS participants, aged care clients on Support at Home, and veterans on DVA funding, all under one roof. If your situation changes, say you move from NDIS to aged care at 65, you don’t have to find a new provider and start again.
Our team understands the veteran community and treats people with the respect they’ve earned. Communication is straightforward, care is personalised, and we handle the paperwork when you’re switching from another provider so the change is smooth. DVA Gold Card holders typically pay nothing for eligible community nursing, and we explain the specific numbers for your circumstances up front, with no vague quotes.
Getting support in place shouldn’t feel like a battle. Our job is to make each step clear.
It starts with an initial chat to understand your needs and what you want to achieve. From there we help you make sense of the DVA support options available to you and how they fit together. We put a suitable support plan in place, then deliver ongoing assistance that fits your routine. As things change, we review and adjust. That’s the full cycle, and we stay with you through all of it.
Need help getting DVA support at home? Our team can help you understand your options and arrange care that suits your needs and lifestyle. We’re local, we’re registered, and we treat veterans with the respect they deserve.
DVA Support at Home refers to funded, in-home assistance that helps eligible veterans keep living independently. It can include personal care, domestic help, respite, and wellbeing support, delivered in your own home. Depending on your needs, this support may come through DVA programs like Veterans’ Home Care and Community Nursing, or through the Australian Government’s Support at Home aged care program.
Eligibility depends on your Veteran Card and an assessment of your needs. Gold and White Card holders, including war widows and widowers, may qualify for programs such as Veterans’ Home Care. To be assessed for VHC, you or your representative can call the VHC assessment agency on 1300 550 450. We can help you work out where to start.
Common services include personal care, domestic assistance, home and garden maintenance, respite care, and community nursing for clinical needs. VHC covers lower-level everyday support, while community nursing covers clinical care at home. The exact services depend on your assessment.
Yes. The whole point of these programs is to support you at home. Our workers come to you across Brisbane, Logan and Ipswich, and fit the support around your normal routine.
